I played the shit out of it, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Combat isn't the most exciting thing in the world, but the materia system really gives you a lot of variety when it comes to customizing your character. I'm not much of a fan of the DMW system either, but it didn't ruin the experience for me or anything. I did kind of miss not being able to equip different weapons and armor and stuff though.
